The animal and the house need treating on the same day, and properties against scrub also pick up fleas carried in by wildlife. What is visible is a small fraction of the population, with eggs, larvae and pupae deep in carpet, rugs and pet bedding.
Brushtail and ringtail possums are protected under the Wildlife Act 1975 and cannot be harmed or relocated off the property. With this much canopy, a branch reaching the roof makes access easy however well the eaves are sealed. Pigeons, starlings and mynas nest in roof voids and along the village shopfront parapets, block gutters with nesting material and leave droppings that damage roofing and carry health risks.
